We made it through a really great holiday.  We are happy and satisfied.  Our families are proud of us and we are too.  It is a wonderful feeling to know that we have control over our bodies.  Well, it won’t be quite as hard for us on Christmas Day.  We know who we are and where we want to be in the spring of 2011.  Have a great time and keep on keeping on!!!  Caring Carlee

Holidays or Festive Everydays?
Posted by: site admin @ 11:04 am

Hi Friends,

Is the holiday season just a festive everyday? Let us be real. Do we really change the type of foods we eat during this time of year, or do we just eat more of the usual goodies indulged in everyday? Well, I just thought of a new list:”Use in Moderation, If at all Period List.” List all the foods you love to eat, past, present and future during Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. If you get tired, stop and come back to the list, if you have more foods to list.

Look at your list everyday throughout the holiday season. If you eat anything on this list, put a check by it. Remember: You are not trying to punish yourself. You just want to remind, YOURSELF, that you are in control. You can choose to put it in your mouth or wait.

Havefun!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Choices

Each new day in our lives, we are given a chance to make choices. Choices lead us down one of two paths. The path to the left is full of doubts, fears, and misunderstandings. This path can lend itself to addictions of food, alcohol, drugs, promiscuous sexual activity and riotous living. It is full of stress, regrets, and suicidal venom. Have you made a choice to follow this path?

The second path, the path to the right is full godly hopes, dreams, goals, and great expectations. It is a path of doing good for yourself and others. It is a path of love. It will make the darkest night seem as if it were a heavenly, sunlit day. Choose this path and live! The choice is up to you.

“And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me…And not many days after, he gathered all together and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with ritous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want…(left path) And when came to himself, he said…I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee…And he arose came to his father…(right path)…the father said to his servants, bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”  Luke 15:11-24

Feeling Renewed & Healthy
Posted by: site admin @ 5:50 pm

Hello Friend,

It is wonderful to get up every morning feeling renewed and healthy.  So make sure you are doing the things that are right for you.  You know what makes you feel sluggish and tired.  You are aware of what causes you to have mood swings.  Nothing happens to us that we are not aware of.

Remember to thank your Master for breath and strength to put your feet on the floor.  Keep your promise to yourself to eat right and exercise.  Help someone else less fortunate than yourself and visit the sick.  All these things will keep you happy and healthy.

Walking Away
Posted by: site admin @ 1:24 pm

Most people are familiar with the story of the rich man, in the book of Matthew, who asked Jesus “What can I do to ensure receiving the gift of eternal life?  Jesus, first told him to love the Lord God with all of his heart and soul and then to keep the commandments.  The young rich man was glad to hear that, because he had done that all his life.  However, when told the final act to be done, he went away filled with sorrow.  (Matthew 19:22)

Yes, the rich man could not sell everything he had and give it to the poor.  Wealth was his love; therefore, wealth was his God.

We cannot point a figure at the rich man and say, “Wow, he couldn’t give up money to be with Jesus?”  Many of us are being asked by God to give up our temptations, gold & silver, or power to follow Him and we cannot do it.  We, too become like the rich and walk away fuilled with sorrow.  (Deut.7:4; Ex. 20:3)

Remember, if there is something we cannot give up and follow Jesus, it has become our God.  It can be a pack of cigarettes; an illicient affair, food, etc.  We cannot serve two masters.  We will love one and hate the other.  We will cling to one and the despise the other.  Who will you choose? (Luke 16:3)

What’s Love Got to Do With It?
Posted by: site admin @ 2:05 pm

People are asking why are there so many killings?  And, why can’t we get along with one another?  The word, the missing link is LOVE.  We have stop loving one another, because we have stop loving Our God and ourselves.  Are you giving Him the glory and honor He so richly deserves?  Have you looked in the mirror lately and said something nice about you?

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it.  Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

If we have done anything, we have given Him instant service or none at all; and, we have looked in the mirror to see what’s out of place and/or if we look all right.  Take the time to look in the mirror each day and positively, comment on how well you are doing physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  Say it out loud and with much enthusiasm!!!  And above all, serve Him everyday. Until we love God (first) and then ourselves, we will never love anyone else.

You will be excited to know that you are truly alive and all is well.  Then, you will be able to love your brother without fear.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.  He that feareth is not made perfect in love.  We love him, because he first loved us.  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar.  For he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” 1 John 4:18-21

Sorrow Triggers Eating
Posted by: site admin @ 10:30 am

I am sometimes amazed at the many triggers of eating.  Yet the trigger that most of us don’t pay a lot of attention to is sorrow.

When a dear friend or relative dies or is struck with a sickness, my desire for food increases.  I have learned over the years not to fight it, but keep a close eye on what and when I eat.

If I have an urge for chocolate, I put it off for as long as possible.  Sometimes I can get away with three or four days.  All the time I am putting it off, I think about the kind of chocolate and how much of it to eat.

When I finally decide to have it, I eat just the one kind and a small portion.  It satisfies me.

Here lately, I have been able to skip it once or twice during a crucial time.

God is good.

Life is worth living.  Live it to the highest, by eating right, sleeping according to your body’s need, and praying often.  There is nothing worth living for without the Creator.  It’s your choice-Live with Him or without Him.  Which will you choose?
